These masks are made from pre-shrunk tight weave 100% cotton with a polycotton lining. As of the 15th of June they have a non-woven polyester interlining as well. The lining has access slits so that a) a separate filter can be inserted and b) the nose wire can be removed before washing too (no one wants that stuck in their machine). They are curved to fit over the nose and chin, with a wire to hold the fabric snug across the bridge of the nose.

The elastic is a single band that crosses over at the back of the head, to eliminate the discomfort of loops worn over the ears. It can be adjusted or removed easily.

The masks can be machine washed.

I came up with this design while experimenting with coloured fabrics as backgrounds for embroidery, and researching eighteenth century fabric prints. Putting the two together led to this black denim background with the brightly coloured, Georgian-styled flowers. I love how the background makes the colours pop.
